Flanders Red Ale
A sour, fruity, red wine-like Belgian ale, known as the Burgundy of Belgium. It is more wine-like than any other beer style.
Flanders Red Ales are aged for up to two years in large oak barrels where they pick up the bacteria needed to sour the beer. They are often blended with with younger beer to add smoothness and complexity.
Widely available commercial examples of Flanders Red Ale to try include Duchesse de Bourgogne, Cuvee des Jacobins Rouge, and Rodenbach Klassiek.
